LINDA WADE

MEMBER, AFRICAN AMERICAN QUILT CIRCLE OF DURHAM

Linda Wade is a mixed media and folk artist. She is a curator of Mustee Folk Art: An African-Native American art form. It is an art that combines all artifacts, elements, and styles of both cultures. The art represents the mixed blood of Africans and American Indians; particularly the Black Indians.

Linda Wade began her art career in Dayton, Ohio, in the 1980s. She attended Sinclair Community College and the Riverbend Art Center, where she successfully completed courses in wax sculpturing, jewelry casting, silversmith, and commercial arts. Her crafts and painting are self-taught. She teaches art for children. Linda has work featured in Arts in Education: Color and Learn, a set of coloring and workbooks.

As a member of the African American Quilt Circle, her works are a combination of quilting and fabric painting.
