YVONNE PACE
MEMBER, AFRICAN AMERICAN QUILT CIRCLE OF DURHAM
Yvonne started to teach herself how to make quilts 19 years ago while her family was stationed in the UK and then in Okinawa, Japan. She enjoyed learning new techniques and honing her skills by taking classes at local quilt shops and completing online tutorials.
Quilting is therapeutic for Yvonne. She makes a few consignment quilts each year with the rest going to family and friends. Her quilts are made from both patterns and original designs. Her free-motion quilting is done using a domestic machine for smaller quilts and on a longarm quilting machine for larger sizes.
